In this hybrid role, reporting to the Customer Solutions Director, you’ll be a part of implementing the participant retention strategy within the Customer Service team and directly support the Director of Customer Solutions in advancing a long-term vision for participant engagement and in-plan asset retention. As the subject matter expert in retention strategies, you’ll lead efforts to educate both internal stakeholders and external participants by translating complex retirement concepts into clear, actionable guidance. Through strategic collaboration, data-informed outreach, and the development of tailored educational resources, you’ll ensure participants understand the long-term value of retaining assets within Wespath-managed plans. You’ll also empower internal teams by providing the tools, training, and insights needed to support meaningful conversations, enhance participant engagement, and deliver a seamless, value-driven experience.
More specifically as the Asset Retention Specialist you’ll:
- Proactively engage with retirement plan participants approaching distribution or rollover decision points. Proactively respond to participants with inquiries about investment funds, fees and/or returns.
- Educate participants on the benefits of keeping their retirement balances within the organization’s managed plans, including investment options, key advantages, and long-term financial planning support.
- Monitor and analyze trends in participant rollover activity to identify at-risk accounts and implement targeted retention strategies.
- Maintain a deep understanding of retirement plan offerings, investment options, and applicable regulatory frameworks including IRS Code, and other standards to ensure accurate, compliant, and fiduciary-responsible guidance.
- Work with communication and investment teams to create content and campaigns promoting the advantages of in-plan retention.
- Support training initiatives for internal teams to enhance their knowledge of rollover prevention strategies and participant engagement.
- Track performance metrics and provide regular reports on retention rates, participant satisfaction, and related outcomes.
- Address customer concerns by identifying and proposing solutions to continuously improve retention.

- The compensation range for this position is $105,000 to $116,000 with a bonus opportunity and customary benefits. Final compensation will be based on the hired applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and as such, may fall outside the range shown.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
- 3 years of relationship management experience within financial services or employee benefits, with a focus on participant engagement and retention.
- Subject matter expertise in designing and executing retention strategies that engage both internal stakeholders and external participants, including leading educational initiatives such as webinars, digital guides, and targeted communication campaigns that promote in-plan asset retention.
- Strong understanding of retirement plans, investment products, rollover processes, and the regulatory environment governing them.
- Proficient in analyzing and managing large datasets using Microsoft Excel including advanced functions such as pivot tables and VLOOKUP for data organization and reporting.
- Willing and able to accommodate flexible scheduling to meet participant availability outside of standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
- Skilled in using CRM platforms and retirement administration systems to personalize messaging, monitor engagement, and optimize outreach strategies based on participant behavior and organizational objectives.
Preferred Requirements/Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, ideally holding a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation or equivalent, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts into participant-friendly guidance.
- Proven ability to apply consultative or relationship-based sales techniques to promote in-plan retention and participant engagement, with a focus on building trust and delivering value.
- Experience collaborating with training and development teams to mentor peers, create educational materials, and support knowledge-sharing initiatives that enhance team capabilities and participant understanding.
- Skilled in reviewing, developing, and approving marketing and advertising content that aligns with organizational messaging, regulatory standards, and participant engagement goals.
