We operate in three states serving our six service lines - Infrastructure + Analytics, Site, Structures, Survey, Transportation, and Water Resources. We are looking for a CAD Drafter- Survey Technician to support our CDI mission in Building Stronger Communities. By designing and producing survey projects, you will be supporting our mission and developing a better tomorrow.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for producing detailed survey drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D and MicroStation CAD software while ensuring drawings meet company, client, and industry standards and codes.
- Process UAS aerial, mobile and terrestrially collected LiDAR and photogrammetric data and work with point cloud data to create project deliverables.
- Create drawings from field collected survey information, complete initial QC of field data and ensure deliverables meet standards and best practices as well as preparing project-specific information for field crews.
- Work from sketches, notes, plats, deeds, title reports, and other input material and specifications to analyze and produce detailed final land surveying project deliverables using computer-aided design and drafting systems.
- Work closely with professional land surveyors to complete red line mark-ups and take an active role in the evaluation of accuracy and quality assurance process addressing comments related to the survey deliverables.
- Work independently and collaboratively with surveyors and engineering design team to provide existing conditions survey drawings used for planning, design, and/or research on conventional civil engineering projects.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of the principles and practices of land surveying.
- Working knowledge of topographic and boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, subdivisions, easement, and vacation plats.
- Advanced knowledge of mathematics through trigonometry and geometry and its application to surveying.
- Working knowledge of drafting methods, standards, and procedures.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, and other relevant software.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret documents such as technical specifications, deeds, plats, and other surveying and engineering documents.
- Must demonstrate strong listening skills, work ethic, reliability, and ability to establish priorities, handle project assignments and work tasks with varying lead times.
- Must be able to quickly shift priorities, be flexible to adjustments in work assignments as changes occur in project needs and quickly move from one assignment to another.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both verbally and in technical writing.
- Ability to contribute and work well in a team environment with both office and field surveyors.
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required.
- Associates or Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
- Prior drafting experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil3D.
- Previous CAD experience in land surveying preferred.
This role can be based out of St. Louis, MO. The travel expected is up to 10%.
Work is generally performed in the office but will include some outside work at various job sites. May be exposed to all kinds of weather conditions including extreme temperatures, rain, snow, high winds, humidity, and dusty conditions. Physical activity is required including walking, standing, carrying equipment, stooping, kneeling, and bending. May be exposed to site conditions including exhaust fumes, dust particles, insects, wildlife, plants, poison ivy, and other environmental elements. Must be able to lift/carry 30lbs in field conditions. Up to 30% of work performed outside.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $45,000-$75,000/year, however this is non-exempt position. Compensation will vary based upon relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
