POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for accelerating the growth of Sunrise Medical’s Ride Designs business, prioritizing Veteran engagement with strategic emphasis on expanding sales within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), and additional Veteran advocate channels. The Veterans Field Support Director will serve as a key individual contributor, leading through influence by developing and executing field support strategies that enhance product knowledge, clinical application, and competitive positioning. This role will work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and clinical teams to support internal and external stakeholders-particularly focused on Veterans-through training, education, and consultative engagement nationwide.
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a strategic national resource to support the growth of Ride Designs within the VA, DoD, and additional Veteran advocate channels, providing expert-level product and clinical knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
- Engage directly with key influencers and decision-makers to build relationships, understand clinical and procurement needs, and advocate for the adoption of Ride Designs solutions for Veteran recipients.
- Support the sales team by participating in customer meetings and field visits to help drive product adoption and resolve technical or clinical objections.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, and Clinical teams to support the development of go-to-market strategies and technical content for Ride Designs.
- Represent the brand at key industry events, including Veteran-specific conferences, trade shows, workshops, and adaptive sports venues to promote awareness and strengthen market presence.
- Provide market intelligence and field insights to inform product positioning, messaging, and future development opportunities.
- Align with leadership, including the VP of Marketing and Education, Director of Ride Sales, and Sunrise Medical Regional Directors, to ensure field activities support broader Ride Designs growth objectives.
- Support the Aspen Seating Clinic and its adaptive sports initiatives, helping to promote Ride Designs’ presence and impact within the adaptive sports community and among VA-affiliated participants.
Qualication:
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- An advanced clinical degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or a related field, with a strong foundation in seating and mobility.
- A minimum of 20+ years of experience within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, with a strong focus on complex rehab technology (CRT), assistive technologies, and custom seating solutions.
- Deep expertise in customized seating, particularly with Ride Designs products, including clinical application, fitting, problem solving, and outcome-based evaluation.
- Extensive knowledge of VA systems, funding policies, procurement processes, and associated federal regulations, including how to navigate and influence decision-making about Veteran healthcare.
- Strong relationships with key VA stakeholders and influencers, with a proven ability to build trust and credibility across clinical, administrative, and executive levels.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate clinical and technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to simplify and translate complex clinical and technical information into commercially relevant messaging and presentations.
- Experience supporting and leading adaptive sports programs, with a passion for promoting mobility and performance through innovative seating solutions.
- Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams (Sales, Marketing, Clinical, Product) and external partners.
- Self-starter with strong initiative and follow-through, capable of independently driving strategic initiatives to successful outcomes.
- Comfortable representing the brand in high-visibility settings, including trade shows, Veteran focused events, and adaptive sports clinics and competitions.
