Position Summary
True North HDD is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Territory Sales Representative to drive sales of our industry-leading Horizontal Directional Drilling and Heavy Equipment. This role combines sales, technical knowledge, and customer support to deliver solutions that help contractors, municipalities, and utility companies succeed. Travel within the assigned territory is required, with the expectation of 75% of all travel will be outside of Nebraska and 25% of all travel to be within Nebraska.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Sell and promote True North HDD equipment lines, parts, drilling products, and tooling to contractors, municipalities, and other key decision-makers in the directional drilling, heavy machinery, and adjacent markets.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, following up to ensure proper equipment operation, satisfaction, and identifying opportunities for additional equipment, parts, or service sales.
- Conduct onsite and in-yard equipment demonstrations, highlighting features, performance benefits, and data collection capabilities.
- Prepare accurate quotes, proposals, and sales documentation for equipment, refurbishment projects, and service offerings.
- Promote purchase options, consignment services, parts/tooling sales, and other current specials.
- Monitor competitor activity, industry trends, and new product introductions to inform sales strategy.
- Plan and prioritize territory sales activities, maintain maps and contact lists, and travel extensively throughout the territory.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and customer events to represent True North HDD as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams—including, leadership, Marketing and Sales—to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Utilize mobile and digital tools for quoting, reporting, and tracking sales activity.
- Maintain detailed records of sales activity in the company CRM and manage assigned company property (vehicles, demo equipment, electronic devices).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills - Minimum 3+ years of experience in equipment, construction, or technical sales, with preferred familiarity in horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment and tooling or related machinery.
- High caliber sales ability, with the ability and understanding to research and map out potential new customers.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of construction equipment, mechanical systems, or automation technology.
- Ability to conduct hands-on equipment demonstrations and explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently to meet sales goals.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
- Ability to lift heavy loads when performing equipment demonstrations or handling parts.
