Overview
The Senior Portfolio Advisor II is responsible for the management and oversight of investment activities for a defined set of complex, high net worth client portfolios, while serving as a senior investment advisor within the market. This role combines primary portfolio management responsibilities with client advisory, and investment leadership, ensuring alignment with investment standards, risk management practices, and strategic objectives. A Senior Portfolio Advisor is very active with regards to new business generation within the context of team selling.
What You'll Do
Investment Management & Client Advisory (Senior Portfolio Advisor)
Manage investment activities for a set of major fee revenue producing accounts representing large and sensitive high net worth personal trusts and individual investment portfolios typically larger in size and complexity within their market.
Using a Goals Based approach, develop, recommend, and direct the execution of programs designed to achieve bespoke investment objectives for specific individual clients.
Analyze and plan overall investment strategy, with continuous revision as goals and objectives change, working closely and proactively with the broader client service team to identify and execute on areas of opportunity.
Maintain an integral and influential presence with clients, co-trustees, consultants, internal partners, and external advisors to ensure communication of client requirements and coordination of portfolio activity.
Deliver proactive, advice-driven client service, communicating complex investment concepts and portfolio strategies clearly and effectively.
Business Development & Market Contribution
Contribute to the growth of the market by generating new business in conjunction with the sales and relationship management team and individually cultivating relationships with referral sources, centers of influence, and internal partners, as well as actively generating introductions from existing clients.
Represent the firm in client meetings, educational opportunities, and external events to enhance visibility and support business development.
Investment Expertise & Thought Leadership
Consistently demonstrate mastery of investment strategies, tools, and portfolio construction methodologies through ongoing engagement with National Investment and Goals Driven Wealth Management practices, peers, and broader Wealth and Asset Management teams.
Actively engage in thought leadership activities, including publications, educational forums, and practice-hosted symposiums and events.
Apply sophisticated analytical thought to evaluate complex investment scenarios, exercise judgment, and identify innovative solutions.
Risk Management, Governance & Execution
Adhere to National Investment Guidelines and sound risk management practices, incorporating feedback from the REV peer review process and other oversight mechanisms.
Maintain accountability for personal adherence to best practices as measured by the PM Dashboard and related reporting.
Execute firm initiatives, new capabilities, and required training, ensuring consistent adoption and application.
Provide feedback to leadership on national initiatives, enhancements, and evolving expectations.
Serve on standing investment services committees and participate in special projects, contributing subject matter expertise and leadership.
Leadership & Collaboration
Lead others in solving complex investment and client challenges, providing guidance and direction as appropriate.
Maintain a collaborative presence within the local market team, contributing to a culture of partnership, accountability, and client focus.
Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, and service objectives through individual and team contributions.
Perform work guided by established functional policies while exercising independent judgment in complex situations.

High degree of professionalism, accountability, and adaptability in a dynamic investment environment, particularly in a collaborative environment.
Knowledge
Knowledge of investment and portfolio management theory, accounting and financial principles, associated investment strategies and instruments, and characteristics of various marketplaces, usually acquired through formal education and work experience, is required to manage portfolios.
Decision making, sales, and negotiating skills are required to contribute to the market's revenue generation and guide sensitive or difficult situations through to agreement.
Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in the investment discipline.
Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
Communicates complex concepts and negotiates with others to influence outcomes and achieve alignment.
Experience
Minimum 15 years of investment experience, which may include research, with demonstrated long-term investment performance meeting objectives.
Experience leading projects or functional teams with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity is preferred.
